⭐ — Kardashev's Scale pertinent criticism
Expressed the 24th July 2024
➠ Kardashev's Scale definition
From Wiki, the Kardashev scale is a method of measuring a civilization's level of technological advancement based on the amount of energy it is capable of harnessing.
Carl Edward Sagan estimated that, according to this revised scale, 1970s humanity would be Type 0.7 (about 10 terawatts).

My main criticism is that Kardashev's Scale is exclusively consumerist from an energy point of view. I'll let you appreciate its relevance yourself by comparing it with this one.
For intelligent species, considered as a whole :
Endure nature, stade I : proto-archaic, survival, inter-conflictuality.
Mimic nature, stade II : technology development, research, exploration and expansion ; multi-planetary, interstellar — no inter-conflictuality*.
Being nature , stade III : God-like state, Kardashev type III and above, see here.
This scale could be more actual as we encounter a survival threat due to Climate Changes and a difficulty in centering ourselves on nature, which is nonetheless vital — and the obsession to see a technological and energy-consuming solution in our every problems. I would name this scale the Shlika's Scale (to honor an old pseudo).
